Following considerable growth and significant project wins the Sustainability Consultancy team, which forms a key part of the Environmental Consultancy group, is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable and motivated Occupier ESG Lead to steer future growth and drive the sustainability agenda for CBRE’s extensive Client occupier network.
Job Title: Occupier ESG Lead – Director
Location: Ideally London (but happy to consider other cities across the UK)
Role Purpose: Start-up, lead and manage an occupier focused ESG team in the UK. Responsible for work winning, quality assurance, staff recruitment and training and marketing.
? The role will report directly to the Head of Sustainability and will also have a dotted line report to the Head of Contracted Accounts, UK.
? In this newly created role within the Sustainability Consultancy team, the Occupier ESG Lead will be responsible for the development, communication and implementation of a business plan for an occupier focused sustainability service offering. The business objectives will align with the business plan for Sustainability Consultancy, the wider Environmental Consultancy group and Advisory & Transaction services;
? Oversee, and quality assure, the provision of sustainability services to occupier Clients and provide expert sustainability advice to internal and external stakeholders;
? Actively identify and convert leads to projects within CBRE’s extensive Client occupier network, and as the team resource continues to grow also look to serve external occupier Clients;
? Develop and maintain key client relationships and maximise opportunities for repeat business;
? Manage contracts, budgets and costs to ensure profitable growth for the Occupier ESG team;
? Utilise existing team of sustainability consultants, with a view to develop an ESG team specific to serving occupier Clients;
? Responsible for the future recruitment, line management, training and development of junior team members;
? Ensure the latest learning and development initiatives are implemented as required within the team, and wider Sustainability / Environmental group;
? Develop and deliver Continued Professional Development, workshops, seminars to CBRE internal and Client external teams on sustainability related legislation, emerging sectoral trends and the performance of sustainability programmes;
? Write articles and help to support webcasts, trainings, and other educational content for CBRE employees and Clients;
? Support the delivery of wider Sustainability and Environmental Consultancy initiatives across Client portfolios, including working with subject matter leads in delivering programs relating to specific sustainability themes such as due diligence, employee ESG engagement and talent attraction/retention, design and project management, net zero carbon, health and wellness, community impact etc.;
? Innovate processes, products and services to drive efficiencies and effectiveness, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments; and
? Serve as a champion of CBRE’s own sustainability strategy.
? Experience in occupier workplace ESG
? Experience of operating in a complex, commercial environment
? Proven record of delivering targets
? Ability to think strategically and translate research and insights into viable recommendations for action
? Ability to understand and analyse information to be able to recommend informed solutions to problems
? Able to influence third parties to achieve desired sustainability outcomes
? Understanding of key sustainability issues affecting businesses
? Knowledge of key sustainability tool / methodologies (e.g. BREEAM, WELL, NABERS UK, CRREM) and reporting initiatives (GRI, CDP, SASB etc.).
? Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong attention to detail
? Excellent people management skills
? Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships across department and geographies
? Bachelor degree required, MBA or other master’s degree preferable
? Minimum of 12 years of sustainability experience
