CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting an IT Day Technician to join the team located in Athlone. The successful candidate will provide on-site support for the provision and maintenance of physical IT services within a production data centre environment for our client.
Purpose of Role:
The purpose of the ICT Technician role is to install and monitor hardware and ensure cost-efficient technical and maintenance activities in the Lab Operations technical environments and data centres that meet our client’s requirements and their business needs.
•Receive, assess, and complete IT equipment & infrastructure installation, relocation and decommission requests within established timeframes using ticketing tool.
•Receive, respond, and resolve Break / Fix (incident) engagements
•Provide smart hands problem solving support upon request including server reboots, OS updates / rebuilds, backups and visual inspections
•Physical Installation and reconfiguration of structured infrastructure cabling systems
•Receive, assess, and complete patching / de-patching requests (both copper and fibre)
•Escort and supervise / monitor work of third-party engineers and / or sub-contractors
•Carry out daily housekeeping checks of the data halls and record findings
•Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment through compliance with OHS (Operational Health & Safety)
•Ensure that Method Statements / Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken & Operate a Permit-to-Work System in accordance with CBRE Quality, Health & Safety procedures, and client requirements
•Develop a good working relationship with all members of CBRE staff, management and the Client representatives
•Availability for On Call as required & provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice if required
•Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by local management
•The ICT Technician must have a third level technical qualification or a minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant role.
•Excellent written / spoken English
•Ideally the candidate will be familiar with data centres from an ICT perspective.
•Familiarity with commissioning, decommissioning and repurposing of IT hardware.
•A good knowledge of operational health and safety (OHS).
•PC literate - Microsoft Office applications & Collaboration tools e.g. MS Teams, Sharepoint
